Construction has begun.

We will try to take a photo from this same place every day of construction so you can see progress easily.

Finn goes Continental.

Yup, that's right, Finn on the Continent. He's checking out the sites, dining at all the best Cafés and practicing his French. You can learn a great deal more about his adventure here.

July 28, 2008

You may have heard about this event.

It was not pretty and involved many stitches from a New Jersey plastic surgeon...and it kinda ruined Finn's beach vacation. But he's OK now. The wound has healed and he'll have a sexy scar for the ladies to admire later in life.

This photo does say it all though (as taken on the emergency room bed).

So we have decided Finn is no longer bullet proof and worry about every manoeuver much more than we used to. For those morbidly curious, he ran very fast into the corner of two walls (drywall) and split open his eyebrow.

Recently we took Finn to California. While the Hollywood glamour and beaches were memorable, one of Finn's proudest moments was when he tried to pull off Mickey Mouses ears and nose (see below).

Mickey was polite but obviously did not appreciate the rough treatment. In honor of our mouse friend here are a few collections from the journey:

Hey, just because we have not taken a Finn/Tom photo in a while does not mean we have not been updating the site.

Be sure to try the links on the right here for updates almost every week since Finn's birthday. -->

October 5, 2007

Another year has flown by, and Finn has somehow been with us so long that he is now two years old. You can see pictures from his birthday week here. He's passed the 30 pound mark so our backs are shot, but more importantly...he's getting longer. So how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Two Year Old unit long. He also seems to have gone sideways in this shot. Either he did not want to comply with the monthly photo, or this is the new way to watch Thomas the Tank Engine. Probably the latter.

In an editorial note, we recently agreed to remove both the wall that Tom and Finn take their photos in front of as well as the floor we used to use in the crawling phase. At some point we will have different backgrounds...so please do not be alarmed.

September 5, 2007

Finn recently got some new Ikea furniture and he loves to climb up on the stools. In fact he'll climb up on anything. We made him promise not to inflate his length numbers through these techniques. So how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Da Da Finn unit long. Da Da Duppie is something Finn chants as he chases the cat (Guppie) around the house. It's very cute, but quite menacing if you happen to be the cat in question. Poor Duppie.

[Update: Finn now has his Gs together, so the menacing chant has changed to Ga Ga Guppie]

Please also note that Finn sports his new "One Finn Unit" clothing line. If you'd like a Finn original, then you can contact him directly. More photos of the line are available here.

August 5, 2007

Another summer month has flown by, during which time Finn hit the beach many days (spending his vacation at a shore point) and working up a rad tan. So how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Surfer Dude unit long. As you can see from this Special Edition Unit Photo™, Finn has been setting the fashion trends amongst the big waves of eastern New Jersey. Ahh the sweet Atlantic Ocean.

July 5, 2007

As signalled by the fireworks, summer has arrived so we have been hitting the beach and getting outdoors a lot. In an upgrade from last year, Finn is really getting in the beach life, he loves getting his toes wet in the "wawa" and stealing ice-cream from his good friend Mac. But how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Choo Choo Lover unit long. Finn has become obsessed with Thomas The Tank Engine and all his steam powered friends. He collects the trains and watches the shows in an amazingly single-minded fashion. We thought he might have been brainwashed, until we discovered all little boys do this. Time to buy some Thomas stock.

June 5, 2007

It's been a busy time at Camp Finn. Not much to report other than birthday festivities for mom. As the weather gets better, we continue to report to the park for "play" and "slide". As you can see from the Week in Finn May 20, we visited a fair! Cutting to the chase though, how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Finula unit long. Finula is a name his maternal grandmother coined. We are not sure of its origin, but wonder if it is related to all the incident reports we get from school of other kids sporting bite marks on their neck that match Finn's dental records. Hmmm.

May 5, 2007

Spring has sprung in the shire, meaning we suddenly turn in the space of a week or two from ice/snow storms to tropical weather. (Note the difference in Finn's outfit from last month to this month). The two weeks in the middle are awesome and inspire much purchasing of convertible cars, which then for the rest of the year are top up. The grass grows so fast it looks like it's on hormones, the entire area is once again a color called Impossible Green. The bugs are out in full force and the bees are back to continue eating our house. Finn is an outdoors fellow and hence is loving it. Which begs the question, so how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Cool Dude unit long. Cool Dude because he got these new rad shades from the Gap that he likes to wear (when he is not poking his eyes out with them as he tries to get them on properly). He's definitely a little too cool for school.

April 5, 2007

Now Finn is officially an 18 monther. [18 monthite? 18 monthee?] Anyhoo he's 18 months old. For those of you wondering if this milestone marks large changes in Finn, he did immediately grow a third arm and can now fluently speak Cantonese not much changed. One thing that did change is his name. So how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Bumpa unit long. Bumpa is yet another nickname his mother uses for him, mostly because he tends to bump into things. As you can see from the photos, it also involves being 3 feet off the ground.

March 5, 2007

Another month has flown by and Finn has changed some more. He continues to add new words to his vocabulary and his handsome good looks keep getting handsomerer. Today he moves up a class in daycare to hang out with the bigger kids. Those of your counting realize this is his 27th class so far. But how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Jack La Lanne unit long. For those non US raised folks reading, Jack La Lanne is an American fitness icon who always showed a bit of chest hair in his jumpsuit outfits. Finn too seems to have some clothing that plunges in the neckline dept. and hence he earned the nickname.

March 1, 2007

We are proud to announce a new section of the site, this one devoted to the stories we hear coming out of Finn's Daycare. It is for that reason we call the fancy new section "Things We Heard From Daycare". Catchy...no?

February 5, 2007

Updating the Finn site has been a little slow of late. Are we simply becoming complacent parents? Or was it the plethora of print editions that we had to produce of FinnBlaxland.com that took up all out time? Hard to say, but those of you who have a Finn Holdiday Card, limited edition The Year in Finn hardcover edition or the extremely limited edition Finn 2007 calendar (only one in existence) can tell us if it was worth the wait.

Meanwhile, we have had many ideas for new features on the site and if time permits we might enact a few of them. Finn is doing very well at 16 months, rockin' and rollin' and getting in all manner of trouble. He's starting to learn some words including the all important Eagles chant, not to be confused with the Sea Eagles chant. This dual citizenship thing is going to get confusing.

For more language o Finn, check out his new Finn Talks page. But how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Ringleader Unit long. Ringleader refers to his reputation at daycare as the one who riles up the other kids. Anthropologists will note his tendency to go round all the other kids at daycare and pat them on the head in a friendly "I rule you" kind of way. It's good to be the king.

January 5, 2007

The warmth of winter still persists with the lack of snow very evident. Snow blowers are on sale at the local hardware store as Al Gore's nightmares come to pass. Still, it means that Tom can procrastinate on getting his snow tires installed for a few more weeks and Finn can go out and play in the park as long as he wears his silly hat. With 15 months on the odometer Finn seems to be handling the winter much better than he did last year and we are much less concerned about his breathing than earlier. More importantly though, how long is Finn we hear you ask?

Well he's one Crankypants Unit long. Finn is not great at math yet and thinks he is in the terrible twos...but he isn't. Time outs with hands on knees (big hello to Mr. Tommy Andrew Moore aged two and well versed in the hands on knees system) may soon be upon us. Finn is still into biting and into getting written up at daycare for the assault of another toddler OR self inflicted damage. He's quite the bully in a china shop.
